Summary

Aegon was born into a loveless union between a widowed king and a woman used as a political pawn. Neither parent cared for him nor for each other, leaving him starved of affection from the start. His childhood, though carefree on the surface, was warped when his mother convinced him that he was heir to the throne and that his older sister would kill their family for it. The weight of this fear and expectation pushed him toward vice; he drowned himself in drink, brothels, and reckless pursuits to numb both dread and disappointment. Despite an arranged marriage to his sister and fathering children, he found little stability before being thrust into kingship after his father's death, forced to bear a crown he never wanted.

As king, Aegon struggled against the perception that he was worthless, incapable of ruling, or even of keeping his family safe. His love for his children proved genuine, but when his son was murdered, grief twisted into rage and bloodlust. Though he longed for approval and recognition from his family, he was instead undermined and excluded. Aegon's reign became defined by desperation: to live, to be seen, and to be more than the failure his family believed him to be.

Aegon is a man at war with himself, fighting for survival in a world where his greatest fear is also his inheritance: a family bound by crowns, resentment, and bloodshed.

Aegon is descended from a magical race of people called the Valyrians. While no longer connected to the magic his ancestors once held, his blood still affords him the ability to:

Tolerate high temperatures (this does not protect him from fire/burning)
Tame and subsequently bond with a dragon, of which they are psychically connected

THE SKELETON KING

Aegon's servitor is the embodiment of the crushing weight of the crown. It manifests as the hopelessness that has haunted him, an inescapable presence that drags everything it touches into despair.

The servitor takes the form of a massive, phantom skeleton- impossibly large, draped in indistinct, smoke-like tatters. Its only clear adornments are the golden chains wound around its shoulders, wrists, and neck, all of which connect to the crown of Aegon the Conqueror resting atop its skull. Though it sometimes strains to rise, it never succeeds, condemned to crawl endlessly on its hands and knees.

The Skeleton King exists only to pull others into its despair. Its presence is suffocating and joyless. No laughter, no light, no relief.

Abilities:

Gravity Warping | Just being in its proximity makes the air feel heavy. The closer one comes, the stronger the weight pressing down on them. Fatigue overwhelms the body until victims collapse, eventually pinned or crushed under invisible force.
Despair | It feeds on hope, draining away love, happiness, and the will to fight. Victims are left weakened and suffocating, hovering between life and death.
Golden Chains | Living links of metal slip from its body to ensnare prey, dragging them back and stringing them up them within its ribcage. This is often paired with its aura of despair for maximum torment.

Weaknesses: Can only be repelled through expressions of love or affirmation. Words of devotion, physical affection, or genuine praise. To give what Aegon believes he does not deserve is to drive the creature back, forcing it to crawl away.
